Overview
About the project
Arisaig Shellfish Shack is a small Highland business selling fresh shellfish. The project began with logo design — establishing the brand identity first — before expanding into a full WordPress website with e-commerce capability. The client wanted a fun, upbeat theme, which drove typography and aesthetic choices throughout both the brand and the site.

Challenge & Approach
From logo to live online shop.
The Challenge
Building a brand from scratch
Designing both the brand identity and the website from scratch — ensuring the logo, colour palette, and typography carried through consistently into the digital product. With a fun, upbeat brief, the visual language needed energy and personality without sacrificing professionalism or e-commerce usability.
The Approach
Logo first, then site
Initial mockups were created in Adobe XD before development, with custom Illustrator icons reinforcing the Shellfish Shack’s brand identity throughout the site. WooCommerce provided the e-commerce functionality, with Stripe powering payment processing — giving the client a complete, self-managed sales channel from day one.
Tech & Build
WordPress WooCommerce build
✦ Adobe Illustrator — logo & hand-drawn illustration
✦ InDesign — menu layout & print-ready files
✦ Figma — digital brand assets & guidelines
✦ WooCommerce online shop integration
✦ Stripe payment gateway
Key Findings
What worked, what I’d change.
What Worked Well
Designing the logo before the website ensured visual cohesion across the entire project — the WooCommerce site felt like a natural extension of the brand rather than a separate design exercise. The client’s upbeat brief gave clear creative direction that made decision-making throughout the project straightforward.
What I’d Do Differently
A post-launch CMS training session would have helped the client feel more confident updating product listings and managing orders independently. WooCommerce is powerful but has a steeper learning curve than simpler platforms — a short handover session would have been a worthwhile investment.
